Full Job Description

We are currently seeking an Painter & Decorator to join The Bedford College Group, to cover all locations across the Group around Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire

Your main duties will include:

  • Working with the Maintenance/Estates Managers to conduct condition surveys and maintain a schedule of works for painting and decorating works required.

  • Planning and organising the works, materials and equipment according to set priorities, considering the size and complexities of tasks.

  • Preparing, cleaning and filling surfaces using appropriate methods including stripping and removing wallpapers.

  • Applying paint and any other specified materials, resulting in a high finish of work.

  • Room clearing as required, with help from the Estates teams.

  • Ensuring the areas are left in a clean, tidy and safe state during and after completion of work.

  • Complying with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations at all times, wearing correct PPE as appropriate.

  • Ensuring safe handling and safe storage of all paints and solvents

    Ideal candidates will have:

  • Level 2 NVQ Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations (Construction)

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship Painter and Decorator

  • Asbestos Awareness

  • COSHH training

  • Emergency First Aid qualification

  • Painting: 3 years' experience

  • Experience of working within written procedures and guidelines

  • Good understanding of basic DIY skills

  • Proven ability to organise own workload to meet deadlines and targets.

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Ability to work at all College sites
