Full Job Description

We advise public and private companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits. Our highly regarded Manchester corporate team has a team of 8 with 2 Partners and covers the full range of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on mid to large scale M&A as well as private equity and VC deals. we have just been shortlisted as Corporate Law Firm at the prestigious Manchester Insider Awards. The role You will have the opportunity to gain excellent exposure to high quality work, working closely alongside the local team as well as the national team of 120 legal advisors Your main responsibilities will primarily involve assisting on a wide range of complex and high profile corporate transactions and will include but not be limited to:

  • conducting due diligence;
  • drafting and negotiating documents and reports;
  • reviewing and collating documentation;
  • communicating effectively and confidently with national and international clients, external solicitors and other third; parties (both in writing and by telephone);
  • acting as a co-ordinator between other departments within Shoosmiths; and
  • assisting legal advisors in the department with various corporate law matters and administrative tasks.

  • We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic and ambitious about corporate law with and ideally with some previous paralegal experience, especially in corporate.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external clients
  • Excellent attention to detail taken with all correspondence and documentation
  • Flexible according to client needs, with the ability to adapt to change, new practices and remain calm under pressure
  • Able to integrate within a team as well as working on your own initiative
  • Prepared to get involved in business development, including the attendance at networking and other marketing events.
