Full Job Description

  • Provide support and assistance on customer and other debt recovery matters, mostly for Bupa's Care Services business, but also across the Provision businesses as necessary;

  • Engage in pre-litigation assessment of cases, gathering relevant information and evidence, drafting litigation documents including Letters Before Action and Pleadings;

  • Instruct and liaise with external counsel where appropriate and ensure timely progression of matters and advice.

  • Use Bupa's HighQ case management and legal matter tracking software to ensure cases are appropriately tracked and case managed;

  • Work with other functions within the BGUK Market Unit, particularly Sales Ledger, Payroll and other parts of the Finance function as well as Operations colleagues in the Business Units, to ensure appropriate oversight and decision making for debt cases;

  • Support and assist in the production of reports to stakeholders on status of debt cases and progress;

  • Assist in the design of standardised documents, knowhow and ways of working as part of the debt recovery process;

  • Work as part of the Provision & Litigation team and also the wider Legal function in the Market Unit to ensure that Bupa's legal risks are appropriately managed.

  • Ensure that Bupa's name, reputation and intellectual property rights are protected;

  • Keep up-to-date with external best practice and developments in the law in order to maintain and share up-to-date knowledge and ensure continuous improvement

    Good organisational, drafting and communication skills; understanding of how to add value; tenacious with a high attention to detail; conscientious and hard-working; thrives in a dynamic environment; ability to act with good judgment and discretion, including handling of sensitive matters appropriately.

  • Previous legal and litigation experience desirable.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
