Full Job Description
The AELE team cover Adults, Education, Litigation and Employment legal work. This role is primarily, but not exclusively, to support with Employment and Litigation work and will include:
- Assisting with case management including completing Court/Employment Tribunal forms, preparing and managing bundles of documents and witness statements and preparing instructions to counsel
- Holding a small caseload of litigation matters
- Researching legal issues and preparing advice for clients
- Liaising with the Court/Employment Tribunal
- Supporting the solicitors in the team with administration tasks

- A law degree or equivalent
- Your prior experience of working in a team, delivering timely, clear and effective advice, representation and assistance
- That you demonstrate keen attention to detail, the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team and how you are able to manage competing priorities to strict deadlines
- Your ability to provide courteous interaction with clients with exemplary client care
- Your ability to undertake legal research and present findings with accuracy
This role has a starting salary of £32,512 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Paralegal to join our supportive and successful Lexcel accredited in-house AELE team within the Legal and Democratic Services Department. The administrative base for the Council's Legal Services is Woodhatch Place (Reigate) and we have a Support Team based at Dakota (Weybridge). The AELE team meet every other week in Leatherhead together with additional time in the offices across Surrey's estate combined with working remotely from an appropriate private space. The team are very approachable (even when working remotely) so there will always be someone to provide you with support and to discuss matters with.
