Full Job Description

Your primary role will be to assist and support the team of solicitors on their caseloads of private client work and deliver great client service., Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist on solicitors' caseloads of private client work, including high value/complex probate work, estate planning for high net worth individuals and contentious matters under supervision of experienced STEP members
  • Run own small caseload of files under supervision of the solicitors in the team (dependant on experience)
  • Assist other solicitors and case handlers in the team and wider department with their cases as may be required
  • Travel to and attend upon clients if required
  • Prepare and file various correspondence, notes and documentation
  • Assist with internally marketing the services of the team and wider department
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets\KPIs
  • Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans' values
  • This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role. As a Paralegal you will also ensure that you comply with the relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures, and consistently work in accordance with our values.

    You will have previous experience as a Paralegal and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:
  • Keen interest and willingness to learn all aspects of private client law
  • Interested in undertaking further qualifications specific to private client law
  • Some business development skills and experience or interest in developing these
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
