Full Job Description
The Paramedic will be a part of our urgent care team and will be responsible for face-to-face appointment, home visits and assisting with telephone triage to clinically examine, diagnose and treat patients presenting with illness / injury., The Paramedic will act as an autonomous practitioner who is able to work independently and in conjunction with other members of the urgent care team attending to patients. The Paramedic will diagnose and treat patients presenting with illness/injury and will see and advise patients in respect of their continuing medical needs, whether that be at their homes or at the Practice.,
- To assess, triage, diagnose and treat patients face to face and via telephone accordingly, performing specialist assessment of their needs and make referrals as necessary to other members of the primary and secondary health care teams.
- To request diagnostic investigations and interpret within agreed protocols e.g. x-ray, blood tests, scans, etc.
- To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly, explaining medical problems during surgery consultations.
- When qualified as an independent prescriber, to review and prescribe medication that is appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with latest evidence-based practice, national and practice protocols and within the scope of qualified practice.
- To ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and to acknowledge limitations, embarking upon further training if required.
- To ensure patient confidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times. OTHER DUTIES:
- To deliver high quality, compassionate care and treatment to patients with a focus on promoting health, self-care and independence using a personalised and holistic care approach.
- To see extra or emergency patients when required.
- To contribute to local and national practice targets e.g. QOF, national benchmarking etc.
- To use Arden's templates to ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient's records.
- To ensure all specimens (cytology, blood, urine etc.) are taken in accordance to protocols, recorded into patients records and labelled ready for collection.
- To act as a chaperone at the patient or GP request and to annotate the records thereafter.
- To take responsibility for own development, learning and performance to ensure own educational commitment is at least sufficient to maintain registration requirements.
- To participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and the introduction of all members of the practice staff where appropriate.
- To liaise with patients, carers, hospitals, community pharmacies and other local healthcare providers when required regarding queries and requests and to pass on messages.
- To undertake statutory and mandatory training as required
- To assist with training for new staff.
- To act with professionalism and ensuring that ethical conduct is adhered to at all times.
- To participate and promote child and vulnerable adult safeguarding and to extract safeguarding information and follow the appropriate pathway.
- To keep the working area clean, tidy and professional whilst adhering to GDPR regulations.
- To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
- To participate and co-operate with any research projects.
- To work across different practices on an ad-hoc / when required basis.
- It will be necessary to attend and contribute to various practice meetings as requested.

If so, we are looking to recruit a Paramedic to join our friendly and well-established Medical Practice in Salisbury., We are looking for someone who is educated to degree / diploma level in Paramedicine, is currently registered with the HCPC and has a full, clean UK driving licence. The successful candidate will need to have completed a 2 year 'consolidation of learning' period as a newly qualified Paramedic and will have completed a further 3 years' experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) Paramedic. The successful candidate will have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels, have a compassionate, caring and friendly nature and have a flexible approach to demand. A strong commitment to personal and professional development and teamwork are essential for this role., The post holder will be an experienced caring Paramedic who can demonstrate competent clinical skills whilst working within their professional boundaries.
This is a permanent position - either full time or part time, hours can be discussed at interview. We offer 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata), a competitive salary and the chance to join or continue on in the NHS Pension Scheme. This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be registered with the HCPC.
