Full Job Description

The parenting team provide and coordinate a range of evidence parenting programmes across Stockport and provide one to on clinic parenting support for families. As we move in a Family Hubs arrangement you will be focusing on community delivery of parenting programmes and provide consultation and parenting support to our integrated 0-19 teams and specialist social care and education services.
There is opportunity to join our exciting Invest In Play Programme and Stockport parenting team have become the first level 4 fidelity facilitators of this international programme., To take a specialist practitioner role in the delivery of effective early intervention parenting support to improve outcomes for children and families, with particular emphasis on those who are vulnerable to poorer outcomes
To support the Parenting Team Leader in the co-ordination of parenting programmes , overseeing referrals, triage process and liaison and consultation with multi agency professionals
To deliver specific evidence-based parenting programmes including Invest in Play programmes and 1:1 interventions in Parent Support Clinics., 1. To foster good working relationships within the clinical teams in order to actively problem solve issues as they arise.
2. To work with the Parenting Team Leader in the development of parenting groups within the localities ensuring the involvement of multi-agency colleagues.
3. To be take part in the awareness raising of parenting initiatives within Stockport Family and other professional colleagues.
4. To develop an effective communication system and close liaison with GP's and members of the wider team, Stockport Family and other professional colleagues in order to avoid duplication and ensure a co-ordinated seamless service to clients.
1. To refer to agencies as required ensuring that appropriate services are accessed.
2. To attend professional meetings as required by the Team Leader/Locality Leader in order to be fully informed of local priorities as well as emerging professional issues and wider Trust and Stockport Family priorities
3. To foster good working relationships across multi-agency teams in a variety of settings.
4. To communicate specific service related information to senior managers, staff and other agencies, ensuring clarity of approach where the information is complex. When necessary ensure a sensitive and confidential approach is maintained.
1. Provide parenting advice and consultation to other services and disciplines based on identified need without direct supervision. This will include statutory and non-statutory agencies across Stockport Family.
Responsibility for Patient Care
1. Offer direct therapeutic work to parents, providing specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions working with difficult and highly expressed emotions in the parents and respond effectively to safeguarding needs.
2. To provide 1:1 parenting support to families in Parent Support Clinics, using brief interventions such as The Solihull Approach.
3. To deliver Invest in Play and other agreed evidence based parenting programmes ensuring that individual pre- and post assessment are carried out and evaluation report written up.
4. To maintain accurate and contemporaneous paper and electronic records in accordance with Trust policy and follow data safety, confidentiality and information sharing policies
5. To work with multi-agency colleagues to deliver universal and targeted parenting support programmes.
6. To advise his/her manager and/or Specialist Safeguarding Nurse of suspected child abuse and adhere to the procedures defined in Stockport Safeguarding Children Guidelines prepared by the Stockport Local Safeguarding Children Board.
7. To participate in clinical supervision, in order to reflect on practice thereby ultimately improving the service offered to clients.
8. To participate in specific supervision for the parenting team which involves the use of video recordings.

Planning and organising
1. To assist the Parenting Team Leader in planning groups and development activities; find suitable venues and assist in organising recruitment to courses

3. Lead any developmental work appropriate to band in negotiation with Parenting Team Leader
4. Plan and organise own work schedule, attend staff meetings, allocate work as needed and problem solve
5. To take responsibility for own professional development

Responsibilities for Teaching and Training
1. Contribute to the delivery of specific training and development programmes as part of Stockport Family Workforce development plan.
2. Be responsible for remaining up to date with new developments in parenting interventions and participate in dissemination within the Parenting Team and wider Stockport Family workforce

Responsibilities for data and information resources
1. Work with Parenting Team Leader to ensure data is collected to report on outcomes from interventions for Key Performance Indicators.
2. Ensure data and client records are recorded in a timely manner as required
3. Keep up to date with information from national and local sources to ensure updated with evidence based practice.
4. Review data sources and requirements with Parenting Team Leader and keep these updated to meet demands of service and commissioners

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salaryIn addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
