Full Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join our Parenting Team based in the Penwith Early Help Team, delivering both face to face and online Parenting support programmes. Our parenting workers work closely with multi agency partners to support the delivery of our offer to families, they support parents and carers to access and engage with the support available. You will need to have great communication skills, demonstrate a robust understanding of child development and the challenges that can be faced by families. Part of the Early Help offer our Parenting support delivers high quality evidence based programmes across all ages and stages of childhood. "Early help arrangements are impressive. Support provided by local authority staff is well co-ordinated, with the services available from a broad range of partner agencies to meet the needs of children through a whole-family approach. The interface between early help and statutory work is managed well and children and families lives improve tangibly as a result of early help intervention. Most children's needs are addressed at the earliest stage, helping to ensure that needs and risks do not escalate to the point that children need a statutory intervention." Ofsted, July 2024 The Role: You will work closely with the Early help team, colleagues from Social Care Teams and partners to ensure families have access to and are supported to access our high quality parenting offer. The role is full time and based in Penwith but you will work with colleagues across the West (Penwith and Kerrier)., Cornwall Council's ambition is to be an employer of choice, a high performing Council and a learning organisation. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure. What you'll need to succeed: You will need a Level 3 qualification or above in child development or equivalent, be able to demonstrate in submission and interview a robust understanding of child development and the challenges faced by families. Great communication skills are essential as the role involves delivering our evidence based programmes both face to face and online.
