Full Job Description

15 hours per week, across 3 days (Monday, Thursday and Friday) 9am - 2pm An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part Time Biomedical Scientist to join our team here at MPS. MPS is an Independent Clinical Pathology Lab providing routine blood testing services across the UK. Our client base is wide and varied and includes Police forces, Occupation Health clinics, Private GP's and Hospitals. Established in 1989 we have provided testing services for Private and NHS Healthcare settings for more than 30 years. Role and Responsibilities As a Biomedical Scientist you will be working closely with all members of our team. Your role and responsibilities are, but not restricted to the following:

  • Help the team maintain the smooth operation of the Laboratory to give reliable accurate results daily.
  • Make sure that all samples received each day are processed and analysed as efficiently as possible managing workloads effectively.
  • Ensure all required daily calibrations and QC samples are run in accordance with specific requirements for each of our analysers.
  • Ensure all routine maintenance and cleaning is performed on the analysers.
  • You will be required to help with the receipt of samples, sample separation and labelling using our bespoke system.
  • Other reasonable duties in-line with the position will be required.
  • Pre-arrange additional hours will be required when covering staff annual leave or sickness. This will be paid at the standard hourly rate., This position will be subject to a trial day, and a 3-month probationary period where we ask that no annual leave is taken to ensure all 'basic' training can be completed.

    You must be a qualified and registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • You must have at least 2 years' experience of working as a Biomedical Scientist, ideally in a Biochemistry setting with knowledge of Haematology and Immunology. Have experience in a fast-paced working environment working to tight deadlines. Good computer literacy is required however full training will be provided. Experience of working with Randox Daytona + and Siemens Centaur XP is desirable.
