Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced dispenser that has a minimum of an NVQ 2 in Dispensing Services to join our small friendly team., Duties involve all aspects of a busy dispensary,including handling scripts, making up prescriptions, ordering stock, checkingorders, patient record input, stock control and general housekeeping., Mainduties & responsibilities
To dispense medication as stated on prescriptions,maintaining accurate dispensing records and ensuring that medication islabelled with the correct drug name, strength, quantity, directions for use,patient name and includes any additional information.
To adhere, develop and review practice standard operatingprocedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to expensiveand controlled drugs.
Provide a second check when required on all medicationsissued.
Manage minimum stock levels of medicines, checking expirydates and storage conditions.
Place accurate and timely orders with suppliers and acceptdeliveries of medication, adding them to the computerised stock control recordswhen required.
Maintain dispensary equipment, ensuring it is clean,accurate and in a good state of repair.
Manage the dispensing of patient dosette boxes and associatedadministration.
Ensure the correct medication is given to the patientconfirming the details shown on the prescription form and the label, andconfirming the dosage instructions where appropriate.
Assist the patients in accurately completing any exemptioncriteria on the reverse of the prescription form.
Advise patients about pre-payment certificates and how toapply for exemption certificates.
Collect prescription fees (NHS and private) from patients.
Professionalresponsibilities & development
Maintain continued education by attendance at courses andstudy days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development as agreedby the partners and the personal development plan.
Support and participate in the ongoing development of othermembers of the dispensary team.
Administrativeresponsibilities
To maintain accurate and comprehensive records of alldispensary transactions in the patients electronic notes.
Endorse prescriptions accurately by checking prices withsuppliers as necessary and following dispensary protocols.
Ensure the safe disposal of returned and out-of-datemedications.
Maintain and order stocks of dispensary and NHS stationary.
In participation with nursing colleagues and the ManagingPartner, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating topatient care.
Issue repeat prescriptions to patients within the agreedtimescale.

To be familiar with the company health and safety policy andwork in accordance with any health and safety procedures, instructions ortraining that has been given.
To bring to the attention of the partners any perceivedshortcoming in our safety arrangements or any defects in work equipment.

To maintain the confidentiality of information aboutpatients, staff and company business in accordance with the Data Protection Act2018 and the employee handbook.
It is essential to have excellent organsiation and communication skills and be proficient with the use of IT.
The practice isbased in the rural village of Reeth, about a 20 minute drive from Richmond and Leyburn.We have about 1500 patients on the practice list and provide high qualitypersonalised medical care.
