Full Job Description

  • Motivate and inspire learners to promote achievement and develop their skills to enable progression
  • Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment, following ACL safeguarding procedures
  • Address the needs of learners and work creatively to overcome individual barriers to learning
  • Enable learners to share responsibility for their own learning and assessment, setting goals that stretch and challenge
  • Apply appropriate and fair methods of assessment and provide constructive and timely feedback to support progression and achievement
  • Maintain and update your teaching / training expertise, vocational competence, and digital skills
  • Contribute to organisational development and quality improvement through collaboration with others
  • To initially assess learners' starting points and monitor their progress, set challenging tasks and objectives, and build on and extend learning for all learners.
  • To support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills for them to progress into further learning or jobs that meet local and national needs.

    Adult Community Learning is offering and exciting opportunity to join our ESOL to deliver English Language learning to culturally diverse adult learners. The role will involve the preparation, delivery, and assessment of learning. Most learners will be working towards a nationally recognised qualification or on a pathway towards achieving a qualification.
  • We are looking for someone with a qualification (or working towards a qualification) in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) or similar and experience in working with adults for whom English is not their first language.,
  • Nationally recognised teaching qualification or teaching / training experience and subject specialism equivalent or working towards a qualification.
  • Experience of working with awarding organisations.
  • A good knowledge of the RARPA process (recognising and recording learner progress and achievement in non-accredited courses)
  • Competent user of ICT and good digital skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and raise aspirations of learners through your enthusiasm and knowledge
  • Desirable:
  • Good understanding of social and cultural diversity, equality of opportunity and inclusion and safeguarding
  • Minimum of Level 2 in English and maths
  • Excellent communication skills and a good team worker.
  • Competent user of ICT and good digital skills.

    ACL Essex is the largest provider of adult education in the county. Our aim is to provide learners with as many ways to flourish as possible, to be there in communities across Essex, to make a difference to residents and businesses, so they can make a difference for themselves and to the places that they live in., As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.     Please note that this position is being offered on a part time basis, offering 25 hours per week on an annualised hours contract to be worked across 5 sessions a week, term time only, across a mix of face to face and online delivery. Dates, times, and locations (likely to be Colchester and Clacton) to be confirmed with the exact pattern of working days and hours being flexible and will be discussed in the interview.
  • Ideally, we are looking for the successful candidate to start work in November 2024 but for the right candidate this could be earlier or later in the year., Not only will the successful candidate be joining a team of experienced professionals.
