Full Job Description

The Partnership Accountant is a critical role in the Finance team, providing support across the business on all Partnership Finance matters including all aspects of partner payments, partner capital, HR support and reporting. THE TEAM The Group Finance team supports and drives the financial success of Addleshaw Goddard, striving to deliver a first-class service to all stakeholders. The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning and Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering. WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Partnership Accountant, supported by an accounts assistant, is responsible for Partnership Finance activities across all Group entities. You will work cross-functionally, building relationships and a good understanding of the business to ensure accurate and timely accounting and provision of information for individuals as required. Partner payments and accounting

  • Day to day ownership and review of all partner payment files.
  • Working with the Treasury team to ensure payments to partners are accurate and on time.
  • Responsible for the accurate accounting for payments and timely reconciliation of all partner balance sheet accounts. Includes ensuring more complex areas such as foreign exchange are correctly reflected in the books.
  • Calculation of annual profit shares by partner and accounting for profit shares by entity.
  • Working closely with tax and HR teams to ensure all partner information is accurate and up to date.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual partner statements.
  • Support with Members Interest note in the annual financial statements and provision of information to support the annual financial statement audits.
  • Partnership Capital
  • Overall ownership of partnership capital process, including annual updates as part of remuneration cycle process.
  • Ensuring new partner capital is received within required timeframes.
  • Monthly reconciliation of partner capital balances.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships and working with the various banks that provide Partner Capital Loan finance to Firm partners.
  • Working closely with the Treasury team to ensure timely receipt, payment and accounting for capital amounts and changes.
  • Other Partnership support and reporting
  • Working closely with the HR team to provide remuneration illustrations to support partner recruitment process as required.
  • Provision of remuneration information to existing partners on request.
  • Ad hoc support in relation to a full range of individual partner queries.
  • Monthly reporting on partner areas including partner numbers, changes and key metrics.
  • Integral HR support to the annual partner remuneration process including real time reporting and ensuring all changes to packages are accurately reflected in the partner schedules.
  • Input into annual finance plan and forecast cycle on partner areas such as key metrics and cashflow.
  • Ongoing review of processes, controls, compliance and systematic improvements across all aspects of partnership finance.

    Be a qualified accountant (all qualifications considered).
  • Have demonstrable experience of managing partner finance matters within a partnership environment. Personal tax experience desirable but not essential.
  • Have strong attention to detail with the curiosity to identify, understand and drive imaginative solutions to challenges.
  • Be organised, self-starting and comfortable managing day to day workloads of yourself and direct reports.
  • Have great communication skills and a proven track record at building successful relationships with customers.
  • Take responsibility and accountability for all team outputs, with a critical focus on accuracy.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities and urgent requests.
  • Be comfortable working with individuals at all levels, happy managing upwards and happy conversing with partners on financial matters.
  • Have a strong working knowledge in IT systems, specifically across MS packages (Excel (essential), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc.)
