Passenger Assistants

Transport Operations arranges home to school transport provision for students with special educational needs as well as transport to day care services for adults., We are looking for a Passenger Assistant to join us for 24 hours per week, on a term-time only basis.

Working within a team of Drivers and Passenger Assistants, you can expect to be working on a split shift system that would include a morning shift working sometime between 7am and 11am and returning for an afternoon shift sometime between 2pm and 6pm each weekday. Actual times will vary according to the route you are assigned.

You will be responsible for transporting adults and children to day care, respite placements and schools in Warwickshire which will include helping passengers, with learning or physical disabilities, on and off the bus, ensuring their comfort and safety during transportation, maintaining records as well ensuring the bus is clean and tidy after each use. A full package of training will be provided to support you in the role should you be successful.

To be successful in this role, it is really important you are able to work on the split shift system. As you will be working with a range of diverse people it is also important you have good communication and customer care skills and used to providing a courteous and sensitive service. With the ability to work on your own initiative; flexible in your approach, helping the wider team as necessary; you will be used to handling confidential information with tact and discretion. It would be advantageous if you have experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and have experience of working with young and elderly people as well as people with disabilities., The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
