Full Job Description

To provide learning and care support for pupils with special educational needs (SEND) particularly SEMH to help work towards the outcomes on their education and health care plan (EHCP). This will involve supporting teachers and teaching assistants with to plan and deliver activities and supporting the pupil with routines, transitions, behaviour management and the smooth running of the school.,

  • Build a positive relationship with the pupil, promoting high self-esteem, independence and social inclusion
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school's behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention
  • Assist with the development and delivery of individual education, support and care plans
  • Support the pupil with their social, emotional and mental health needs, escalating concerns where appropriate
  • In fulfilling your role, you will be expected to:
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures and practices reflect the schools commitment to the importance and value of the individual. It is therefore your task to challenge and change any policies, procedures or practice which is discriminatory or prejudicial and which does not reflect or promote the ethos of the school and ensure that they successfully reflect good practice and expectations of Manor House School, Ofsted and legal guidance
  • Ensure that all pupils and young people are treated with dignity and respect, in an environment, which reflects the importance of, and their right to be treated as valuable worthwhile individuals. Take every step necessary to ensure that our pupils and young people are protected from neglect, abuse and exploitation
  • Where deemed necessary by the Head Teacher - To support class teachers by assisting in classroom management and by providing basic supervision and day care skills in relation to pupils
  • To assist in developing and implementing individual educational and behavioural programmes
