This will enable us to foster true partnership and Achieve and Learn Trustcollaborative work that both supports and challenges member schools., As a Pastoral Support & Intervention Manager, you will workalongside the Heads of Year to collaborate with staff, parentsand outside agencies in order to provide support, guidance andinterventions that impact on student well-being, personal, socialand emotional welfare and improve student behaviour,attendance and punctuality. You will be given trainingopportunities and development to assist you in providingmentoring, restorative approaches and behaviour modificationworkshops to support students either individually or as part of agroup., The Achieve and Learn Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. As a Pastoral Support and Intervention Manager, you will be involved in the following areas: Restorative approaches:

  • Regular meetings with students and staff using (where appropriate / necessary) restorative
  • measures to ensure continuous support.
  • Effective communication with students, staff and parents/carers on the actions following a
  • behaviour referral.
  • Re-integration of students into classes, supporting staff to accept decisions made and
  • reminding students of the school's expectations regarding behaviour; encouraging positive relationships to be built between staff and students.
  • Anger management programs to be offered for students who show recurring behaviour
  • which is unacceptable.
  • Clear communication with parent(s)/carer(s) to ensure family support.
  • Behaviour Management Support:
  • Restorative practice meetings for students and staff so both sides feel supported and valued.
  • Liaison with staff to encourage understanding of some behaviours and advise on strategies
  • which will help promote positive behaviour in the classroom and around school.
  • Participation in year group interventions for repeat or habitual offenders.
  • Praise and reward of all students, ensuring that achievement at all levels is recognised and
  • celebrated.
  • Actively attending lessons with students to encourage more acceptable behaviour.
  • Pro-active approach to situations, to de-escalate them promptly.
  • Support for staff and students in the Student Support Centre.
  • Support for Heads of Year in implementing and sustaining a positive ethos within year
  • groups and across the school.
  • Active administration and upholding of the whole school behaviour system.
  • Assisting Form Tutors to maintain good standards of dress, behaviour, effort, attendance
  • and punctuality.
  • Working collaboratively with other key staff in school and external agencies to support
  • behaviour for learning. Social and Emotional Support:
  • Developmental Help Programme(s) delivered through motivational group work or one to one
  • personalised support.
  • S.E.A.L - to help raise self- esteem and promote emotional self-regulation.
  • Solution-focused therapy to help students identify barriers to learning and empower them to
  • set their own goals to effect change, build independence, resilience and problem-solving skills.
  • Mindfulness guided activity sessions to help students manage stress and anxiety and
  • increase their wellbeing.
  • Initiation of contact with other support agencies on behalf of the school, to engage the
  • support of parents/carers and liaise with all parties on a regular basis. This will include preparing and managing meetings with outside agencies. Attendance and punctuality:
  • High presence in the morning on the front line and around the school site.
  • Continual liaison with parents/carers to encourage attendance and support from home.
  • Support for the EWO in managing poor attendees and those at risk of becoming school
  • refusers.
  • Improving the attendance of students who are on track to be persistently absent through a
  • variety of interventions.
  • Implementation of a praise and reward scheme for improved attendance.
  • Documenting the interventions used to improve attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties commensurate with the post:
  • Supporting students at break and lunch times.
  • Attending termly pastoral team meetings.
  • Reporting to / presenting at school meetings such as (but not limited to) pastoral team
  • meetings, Senior Leadership Team meetings and Governors' meetings. General Requirements All staff are expected to:

A/I Essential Working in an educational setting with students and A/I Essential families, covering all aspects of both positive and negative behaviour. 3. Knowledge An understanding of the specialist support services A/I Essential available to young people. An understanding of what constitutes good professional A/I Essential relationships; in particular in a school/education setting. Thorough understanding of child protection legislation and A/I Essential trained in child protection safeguarding issues. Understanding and respect for confidentiality in relation to A/I Essential all issues connected with the role. 4. Skills & Abilities Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise own A/I/E Essential workload. Self-motivated. A/I Essential Ability to manage and disseminate information in a range A/I Essential of different media. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, A/I Essential both in writing and orally, and present and interpret information to a wide range of people. ICT literate, including use of Microsoft Office packages. A/I/E Essential Ability to communicate with young people, both individually A/I and in a group setting.
