Full Job Description

Are you a skilled, professional and enthusiastic Pastoral Support Officer? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you! The successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy Principal leading on pastoral and Heads of Year in providing administrative support as well as leading and taking interventions for pupils to support behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.

What will you do?

  • Support Heads of Year and the assistant principal with pupil behaviour, aiming to nurture each pupil on their own journey of self-discovery.

  • Work with students who are finding it hard to integrate by providing support.

  • Lead intervention strategies to support pupil behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.

  • Liaise with parent/carers and external agencies.

  • Provide Heads of Year and SET updates on pupils groups and the effectiveness of intervention strategies., We want to make sure we are attracting the widest possible range of people and ensure that they are accepted, understood and treated equally when they work here. This means we will work hard to understand that each employee is unique and ensuring that individuals or groups are not treated differently or less favourably on the basis of specific characteristics.


  • Such characteristics include (but are not limited to) age, disability, gender including transgender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, and how the school supports pregnant women and new parents.

  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills

  • Highly organised, ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrates initiative and takes personal responsibility for completion of tasks

  • Resilience and motivation to support the pastoral and school team

  • Ability to produce and record clear, concise and accurate information

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people
