Would you like to join our existing pool of staff who work as Pathology Drivers for our essential daily service to General Practitioners??
The role involves maintaining a daily van route, keeping to strict deadlines, collecting samples and delivering reports, around Leicestershire to GP practices and Health Service premises, delivery of stock requirements, moving of heavy goods and daily vehicle inspections. You will also from time to time be required to work within our Pathology stores helping to process the GP consumable orders., + We are currently recruiting for a full time experienced driver to join our pool of Pathology Drivers based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
+ The successful candidates will visit GP practices and Health Service premises throughout Leicestershire collecting patient samples and delivering reports using the departments van. They will also be required to learn and help out should the need arise in Pathology Stores., Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

+ Ensure confidentiality is observed at all times when collecting/delivering patient samples
+ To complete written route sheet of the days schedule
+ To maintain high levels of H&S within the department and while on route
+ Daily inspection of vehicle ensuring it is roadworthy
+ Collect vehicle from appropriate site and carry out a vehicle check. Responsible for ensuring vehicle is roadworthy and continually maintained, reporting problems
+ Daily, timed collections of radioactive material from Medical Physics for delivery to other sites. Trained and certified staff only will carry this out and must follow specific guidelines when carrying isotopes
+ Set daily delivery of urgent samples to Kettering Hospital
+ Collect mail from various sites, return to LRI, distribute to drivers for onward delivery to GP surgeries
+ Collection of Pharmacy drugs for distribution to other sites, returning drug boxes to LRI
+ Collection/delivery of patient pumps from Medical Physics
+ Collect mobile phone and use as required maintaining communication with base and service users
+ From the Pathology Post Room, collect sealed pouches containing patient reports, consumables and cytotoxic drugs applicable to route and secure all items inside vehicle
+ Consumables delivered to GP surgeries as requested by GP
+ Each driver to complete a daily route sheet
+ Daily, timed collection of patient samples from various locations around LLR
+ Complete daily record sheet and sign for items collected/delivered as appropriate
+ Ensure each vehicle has sufficient carrying boxes for the collection of samples and the vehicle is kept clean and tidy and replenished of any applicable items

Good communication skills and reliability are essential alongside using your initiative, with experience of working as an individual and also within a team.
Full training will be given and a clean driving license preferred but not essential., + Good communication skills are essential with previous experience of working alone, being able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team
+ The post holders will need to keep to strict deadlines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Lifting and handling of laboratory materials is essential to this role. Full training will be provided.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
