Full Job Description

The role will involve working across our Veterinary Hospital in Gorleston and our Veterinary Surgery in Lowestoft. You will work as part of our team rota with shifts between the hours of 7am and 11pm and will also support our MNV Emergency service in Gorleston working twilight and weekend shifts. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in all aspects of veterinary care and really learn and develop your patient care assistant skills in general practice, supporting our specialist vets with advanced procedures as well as seeing our emergency and critical care clinicians at work, all whilst working as part of a warm and supportive nursing team., The Patient Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a PCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients. Some of the duties will include:

  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Running internal lab samples
  • Answering emergency calls
  • Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments

    An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
  • Driving licence with the ability to mobilise yourself between our sites

    This is a fixed term position (6 month contract), working 40 hours per week across Monday-Sunday.,
