Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Walton Centre as a Patient Safety Lead. We are looking for somebody who is passionate about patient safety and continuous quality improvement. You will be credible and work with clinical and non-clinical staff to embed a quality governance & safety culture, ensuring that high quality reviews and effective learning and improvement take place. In line with the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response Policy and Plan in line with national Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The post holder will support patient safety improvement activities and ensure that systems thinking, human factors understanding, and just culture principles are embedded in all safety processes. You will promote patient safety thinking beyond why things go wrong in healthcare to examining why things routinely go right and how that can be maximised. Enabling the Trust to build on the foundations of a patient safety culture and a patient safety system through:
· Being involved in understanding of patient safety within the organisation by drawing insight from multiple sources of patient safety information (Insight).
· Equipping patients, staff and partners with the skills and opportunities to improve patient safety throughout the whole organisation (Involvement).
· Designing and supporting programs that deliver effective and sustainable change in the most important areas (Improvement)., We are looking for a leader who has credibility, a passion for working with all types of challenges, can inspire and motivate teams and has the ability to operate at a strategic level, playing a key part in the continuing development of services.

To lead on the implementation and delivery of a range of clinical governance activities with a particular focus on incidents, investigations and risk management. Supporting the Trust to meet the regulatory requirements of external standards and inspections.
To manage the clinical governance agenda and further development of robust systems and processes throughout the Trust in relation to clinical governance and quality. Underpinning safe clinical practice and fostering multidisciplinary working across the Trust.
To be a specialist resource within the Trust, using knowledge and experience of clinical governance.
Operational lead to ensure the relevant systems and processes are in place to reflect the national patient safety strategy and patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF).
