Full Job Description

We are looking for a talented Payroll Analyst to join our team specializing in Human Resources for our Payroll department in Darlington, County Durham, United Kingdom on a fixed term (18 months) basis. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Streamline Payroll Processing: By administering payroll activities, you'll ensure efficient preparation, processing, and balancing, impacting the overall timeliness and accuracy of the payroll system.
  • Year-End: Completing year-end processes accurately will ensure compliance with tax regulations and contribute to the financial integrity of the organization.
  • Financial Reporting Accuracy: Reviewing and preparing information for general ledger entries will enhance the reliability of financial reports associated with payroll.
  • Maintain Accurate Payments: Correctly calculating payments and deductions helps sustain employee trust and satisfaction, which is vital for the company's reputation.
  • Tax Compliance: Proper calculation of taxes and adherence to internal procedures will prevent costly penalties and ensure legal compliance.
  • Resourceful Point of Contact: Serving as a resource for payroll inquiries will establish you as a knowledgeable expert, fostering internal and external relationships.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participating in projects and initiatives aimed at improving payroll processes will drive efficiency and innovation within the organization.
  • Documentation Development: Supporting the creation and maintenance of payroll documentation will ensure consistency and clarity in payroll procedures for current and future staff.
  • Responsibilities To be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Comprehensive Payroll Knowledge: A deep understanding of UK payroll legislation, including statutory requirements like Maternity, Paternity, Adoption, SSP, PAYE, NI, and Court Orders, to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, particularly with pivot tables and VLOOKUP, as well as familiarity with Time Management, Payroll, and HR systems to manage data effectively and address complex payroll issues.
  • Effective Communication: The ability to develop and deliver communications that resonate with different audiences, ensuring clear understanding and engagement.
  • Decision-Making and Process Optimization: A customer-focused approach to decision-making and a commitment to optimizing work processes for continuous improvement and efficiency.

    College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience of using Time Management, Payroll and HR systems.
