We are currently looking for a Payroll Assistant to join The Sovini Group. As a Payroll Assistant, you will be expected to:

  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of the weekly, monthly and quarterly payrolls, including responsibility for all payroll related administration.
  • Be responsible for all administration relating to payroll including the processing of new starters, leavers, changes in line with company policy and procedures and third-party deductions.
  • Assist in maintaining and processing payroll information by entering data of the Groups multiple payrolls through our computerised payroll system.
  • Ensure that all payroll information is correctly recorded and processed so that Group employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Keep up to date with appropriate legislation, ensuring that you are aware of the legal obligations affecting Payroll.
  • Work closely with Finance and HR around sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality
  • Assist the Payroll Officer and Supervisor in managing the relationships with all relevant outside agencies (HMRC, Pension bodies etc.) on various matters as and when required and ensure that all returns and payments to HMRC and other agencies are completed accurately and within the required timescale.
  • Assist the Payroll Officer and Supervisor in providing compliance across the payroll function whilst taking responsibility for work undertaken.
  • Assist the Payroll Officer and Supervisor in the administration of various company pension schemes and processes.
  • Provide reports as required, to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Meet appraisal targets and support the delivery and achievement of overall business objectives.

  • English & Maths GCSE Grade A - C
  • Experience of providing administrative support
  • Experience of working with computerised systems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision (Once Fully Trained)
  • Ability to work in a systematic manner to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and resolve day to day conflicting priorities
  • Advanced PC skills. Competence in Microsoft products such as Word and Excel.
  • Effective numeric, verbal reasoning and written skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate across multiple channels including Microsoft Teams, Face to Face and Email.

  • Experience or Knowledge of the below would be advantageous but not essential:
  • Experience of working in a payroll position
  • Experience of working in a group structure with multiple payrolls
  • Experience of developing new processes and procedures
  • Experience of processing pension administration and payments
  • Experience of working in a Group structure managing different terms and conditions
  • Experience of working with the iTrent HR and Payroll system
  • Experience of working in a Human Resources / Finance / Payroll environment
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements for payroll
  • Detailed knowledge of Pension legislation and any forthcoming changes
  • Experience of working within a team

    Competitive salary - £23,884.17pa
  • Hours - 36 per week (Monday-Friday).
