Full Job Description

Stantec are looking to recruit a Payroll Manager to manage the effective running of our growing UK & Ireland payroll, and to lead the team responsible for delivering payroll and pension services across the region. This role is based in our central Manchester office with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home-working.

As Payroll Manager you will be responsible for Stantec's UK and Ireland operations - an operation that has grown rapidly in recent years and currently has around 4000 employees on the payroll. Stantec have confirmed ambitions to continue growing in the UK & Ireland and the size of our payroll will increase in the coming years through organic growth and acquisitions.

As Payroll Manager for UK & Ireland you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Stantec payroll - ensuring that UK and Ireland employees are paid accurately and on time. You will take the lead on establishing and maintaining an effective end-to-end payroll process by challenging inefficiencies and working with the wider finance teams to drive automation.

You will manage a Payroll Team of five team members based around the UK. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the team, including workload management, recruitment, training, development and mentoring.

There will be opportunities to be involved in improvement projects, and also to take the lead on activities relating to any acquisitions that Stantec are involved in - including large scale payroll migrations.

If you are looking for a role within a growing organisation, where you can utilise your payroll experience to maintain and develop an effective payroll service, whilst also leading on improvement initiatives, then this could be the role for you.

For this Payroll Manager opportunity, we are looking for someone who has prior experience of managing payroll within a large corporate organisation. Ideally you will have experience of leading on activities such as payroll migrations and leading on other strategic initiatives relating to payroll within a growing organisation.

You will have in depth knowledge of payroll systems, taxation and national insurance rules, and pensions - including experience of DC/DB pension schemes and pension compliance.

For this role within our growing organisation, it is important that you can demonstrate excellent customer services skills with a strong commitment to delivering solutions and introducing processes that meet the needs of stakeholders.

You will have prior team leading experience and be committed to coaching and mentoring members of your team.

Experience of iTrent and ERP systems would be desirable.
