Full Job Description

We have a brilliant team of 13 employees who hold responsibility for paying the staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and also the East of England Ambulance Service Trusts. Every month we make payment to over 12,000 NHS employees, ensuring all absence and personal records are accurate to ensure correct payment. It is a very busy but rewarding role, and with our ongoing digitisation program a good working knowledge of Microsoft suite programs is essential.
This is a new role, which will be varied in supporting the on growing rise in staff in both Trusts. Staffing has risen by a third in the last 4 years and we are looking to strengthen the team to continue the outstanding service we provide in both Payroll and Pensions.

AS PAYROLL CLERK YOU WILL ACTIVELY BE:

Making changes to staff records
Calculating and checking statutory payments such as SMP, SPP, SSP etc
Completing monthly checkback and adjusting errors
Answering queries from staff via email, phone calls or face to face
Running monthly reports and making various checks at the end of month to ensure data is correct
Have a good knowledge of Tax and NI and how it can affect pay
Have a good knowledge of AfC Terms and Conditions
Have a basic knowledge of NHS Pensions
Supporting work on the modernisation of both Trusts
Assisting colleagues with training and development
Supporting the payroll management team where required
