In this role, you'll oversee and manage various types of leave, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in identifying and correcting salary overpayments and underpayments promptly. You'll also manage the rebanking process of salaries, ensuring smooth financial operations on a weekly and monthly basis., You will produce essential payroll reports and ensure the accurate upload of electronic HMRC records. On a rotational basis, you'll take charge of producing the weekly/monthly payroll and sending BACS payments, ensuring all staff are paid seamlessly.
Your organisational skills will shine as you assist auditors, support other Team Leaders, and manage electronic systems for expenses and overtime. You'll develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and create and deliver training programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, whilst overseeing workloads, both regular and sporadic, for all team members.

+ Responsible for providing a responsive and customer focussed service to staff and managers.
+ Provide expert advice and leadership to payroll team in relation to NHS terms and conditions of service (Agenda for Change and Medical & Dental) and National and Statutory rules and regulations e.g. HMRC, Maternity leave/payments etc.
+ The line management of staff; including the planning, organisation and delegation of work allocations.
+ Responsible for undertaking staff appraisals, sickness reviews, performance management and disciplinary/conducts issues in line with Trust policies.
+ Plan, monitor and manage the resources within the team, to include the authorisation of leave in line with departmental and national weekly, monthly and annual work plans/deadlines e.g. HMRC/Pension Agency.
+ Ensuring the Payroll Section complete allocated weekly and monthly payrolls accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner meeting agreed internal/external deadlines.
+ Responsible for ensuring the Payroll Section undertakes all administration and maintenance work for allocated payrolls in an efficient and timely manner.
+ Lead in resolving highly complex queries and requests for information from staff, managers and external agencies including HMRC.
