An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Paediatric Critical Care team and be an integral part of the PCCU Education and PCCU Clinical team.

Post holders will be expected to work a minimum of 23hrs per week across days, nights and weekend shifts., The post-holder will be an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner in Paediatric Critical Care providing clinically based practice development and education. They will role model best, evidence-based professional practice. Clinical education will form approximately 50% of the role, engaging in education activities and working flexibly to maximise education delivery to support staff and patient safety/experience e.g.: Working alongside learners at all stages of development to facilitate learning Identifying and supporting learning needs within PCC Developing and updating training resources Contributing to the delivery of education programmes within the Paediatric Critical Care unit and across the Directorate.The role holder will spend the remainder their time in clinical practice working within the B6 clinical workforce to: Provide clinical leadership ensuring a high standard of individualised nursing and family centred care is delivered to critically ill children. Work as a member of a
multi-disciplinary team, communicating effectively with all levels of medical and nursing staff. Uphold PCCU's Nursing Philosophy of Care. Effectively manage PCCU on a day-to-day basis, in the absence of a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) at OUH includes 17 co-located Level 2 and 3 critical care beds, delivering a wide range of specialist services to patients from Oxfordshire and the wider Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Network (TVW PCC ODN). We are a leading Neurosurgical and Major Trauma Centre and have a vast number of medical and surgical specialities. The unit is undergoing an exciting period of estate and workforce development and investment, with a move into newly built unit within the next 5 years.

SORT Retrieval Service OUH PCC Services include the SORT (Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team) service, delivered in collaboration with Southampton across TVW PCC ODN. It is staffed by doctors, ACPs and nurses from both Oxford and Southampton, with Oxford providing a retrieval team 24/7.
