PCN Pharmacy Technician

Walsall East 2 PCN are looking for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our multi-disciplinary team. Working within a Pharmacy Team of Clinical Pharmacists and fellow Pharmacy Technicians you will provide support at one or more of the practices within the PCN. You will work closely with the practice staff and other ARRS roles.

Walsall East 2 PCN is made up of 5 local practices (Rushall Medical Practice, Northgate Practice, Portland Medical Practice, Collingwood Family Practice and Blackwood surgery) and serves a population of around 43,000 patients. The PCN has an above average population aged 65 years +.

We are an innovative PCN that work closely together in a proactive manner to ensure a high standard of patient care and satisfaction.

Northgate Practice are the lead practice for the PCN, however, all Walsall East 2 PCN contracts of employment are under OurNet Health Services Ltd. Day to day management is by the PCN Management Team, in conjunction with the member practices., Pharmacy technicians play an important role within Primary Care, complementing clinical pharmacists, community pharmacists and other members of the PCN multi-disciplinary team.

The purpose of the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involve assisting the PCN in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.

Within Walsall East 2 PCN we currently have 2 full-time Pharmacy Technicians and 3 part-time. Our member practices value the contribution of this role and are looking to add to the team.
