Join Roche, where every voice matters.The Position The role of the Clinical Operations Analytics & Portfolio Optimization Industrial Placement Student requires a mix of Data Analytics, Patient & Investigator/Site Insights and Business Intelligence capabilities. They are responsible for conducting analyses to provide strategic operational insights to clinical trial teams, leveraging their capabilities in one or more of the following areas of expertise:
- Scenario Planning and Forecasting: Supporting with the optimization of country strategies and forecasting of trial timelines across the Genentech/Roche portfolio, developing insights and recommendations to ensure optimal trial delivery
- Insights Automation & Delivery: Collaborate across teams to develop tools and recommendations for reporting strategy, automating data processing, and delivering analyses/business solutions to the clinical operations organization
- Patient Insights: In-depth knowledge of epidemiology, course of disease, patient journey and experience, existing treatment options and standard of care
- Investigator/ Site Insights: Understanding of investigator landscape, local geographic needs and experience, prior engagement with Roche and industry, track record of success (including adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), overall quality, compliance and safety record, handling the data & record keeping, ethics reviews, etc)
- Business Intelligence: Monitoring and tracking competitive landscape; conducting primary research, assessing risk level and determining implications for trial execution Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop analytical solutions, gain alignment and deliver impactful business insights; engage stakeholders to enable better decision-making
- Build understanding of patient, investigator/ site needs and experience including pain points and opportunities for streamlining investigator and site-level burden
- Develop tools for automating data processing, cleaning, and delivering analyses and business solutions to the clinical operations organization
- Communicate findings by compiling and analyzing relevant information, synthesizing key actionable insights, and delivering impactful formal and informal presentations to therapeutic area leadership, clinical country operations leadership and other stakeholders
- Evaluate competitive clinical trial activities, country/site footprints and threats to develop rigorous assumptions about key competitors, and provide situational analysis support for quarterly business reviews and early clinical trial planning
- Support the identification of appropriate sites and countries for trial placement
- Acquire, aggregate and/or curate data and information
- Demonstrate self-accountability and integrity
- Demonstrate strategic agility and an ability to engage partners to understand and diagnose business problems and recommend appropriate courses of action
- Support enablement of broader and more effective use of insights and/or analytics that drive and support decisions Requirements:
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving ability, breaking down complex problems into distinct parts, managing uncertainty, understanding, anticipating interdependencies
- Experience with database querying and data analysis, preferably using SQL
- Proficiency in standard analysis, collaboration, and presentation software (Microsoft Suite or Google Suite, etc) is a must
- Ability to merge together data sets from disparate sources and report findings in a variety of formats and mediums
- Objective when presenting insights and guiding decision-making; demonstrate good presentation skills by pairing sound analytics with storytelling
- Passionate about business and scientific intelligence
- Effective communication, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
