Full Job Description

St George's College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate individual to teach Physical Education and Sport at one of the best co-educational sporting day schools in the country. This appointment will be a fixed term contract, commencing from January 2025 for 2 or 3 terms, depending on the applicant. The correct candidate will be required to teach Physical Education from Y7-11, along with GCSE & A-level Courses. Candidates should also have experience of coaching in at least two of the main College sports played in our afternoon Games sessions.

Physical Education is a timetabled lesson for all students within Years 7-11. The Schemes of Work for Y7-9 follow the National Curriculum, whereas Y10-11 follow a carousel model allowing for a varied termly choice of activity. Academic PE is thriving; A-level PE results 2023: 40% A

  • , 50% A-A, 100% A-B, reflecting the culture of innovation and progression within the department. Since the introduction of GCSE PE in 2018 it has grown exponentially in popularity, with three classes per year group in 2023/24.


  • Sport has a rich history at St George's College, with both boys' and girls' programmes achieving excellence on a team and individual level. Whilst we are proud of our achievements, it is paramount that all students are given the opportunity to participate and progress, and to develop an interest in physical activity which they will continue in later life; fundamentally, we want our students to enjoy being active.

    Our main College sports in the daily afternoon Games sessions are Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Tennis and Cricket. We also offer many other extra-curricular sports and activities including Indoor Hockey, Athletics, Rugby 7's, Cross-Country, Climbing, Football, Badminton, Basketball, Pilates and an extensive Strength & Conditioning programme. We regularly reach and win County, Regional and National Finals in all of our main sports and we have produced and supported many County, Regional and National level sportspeople. It is an incredibly exciting time to join, with our world class Activity Centre offering outstanding facilities, including an LED glass sports hall floor, climbing wall, 2 Studios and an impressive Strength & Conditioning Gym. Our outdoor facilities are equally impressive with 8 rugby pitches, 7 cricket grounds, an 8-lane outdoor cricket net facility, 6 netball courts, 2 astro turfs, an Indoor Tennis Centre, extensive outdoor tennis courts and a Boat Club on the Thames.
