PE Technician/ Minibus Driver, female only

Full time, 35 hours per week, Term time +5 days (40 weeks)

Salary: Actual salary £26,378 - £27,597 per annum

FTE £29,412 - £30,771 (Inner London payscale Scale 4, points 7-10)

About the role

At The City Academy Hackney, our support staff are just as vital as our teaching colleagues to helping us create exceptional results. We are now seeking a motivated and committed female PE Technician/Minibus Driver to join our team, and contribute to raising the achievement and aspirations of young people in our community.

The post is only available to female applicants, as permitted under the Equality Act 2010. An early start date is anticipated, in October, or as soon as possible.

This role involves:

· Assisting PE teachers in the organisation and running of PE lessons and sports events

· Checking and recording all sports equipment, preparing kits and laying out equipment for sessions

· Providing technical advice and assistance to support students' learning and progress

· Supervising students, including monitoring changing rooms

· Driving the Academy's minibus transporting students between locations, and carrying out routine maintenance checks.

About you

The PE Technician role will ideally suit candidates with a sports/coaching background and experience of working with young people. Being an experienced driver with a clean and valid D1 licence to drive a minibus is a requirement.

You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills and a good knowledge of health and safety, with the ability to undertake appropriate risk assessments. You will have effective communication skills and a positive, professional approach, whether dealing with teaching staff, parents or students. Teamwork and flexibility are important personal attributes, along with the ability to operate on your own initiative and prioritise work appropriately.

You will share our high expectations of students and our determination to ensure children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or physical ability achieve their own best outcomes. An interest in supporting second language learners and in working with a range of special educational needs (including emotional, social and mental health needs) is essential.
