Peer Support Development Worker - ERP short-term offer

We have 5 Assistant Psychologist roles working 30 or hours (4 - 5 days per week). 20 month fixed term contracts. These posts are within our newly developing Living Well Short-term Offer community teams in Derbyshire with a focus on supporting the delivery of effective interventions for people with Complex Emotional Needs (CEN).

Covering various locations across Derbyshire including : Killamarsh and Chesterfield, Ripley and Ilkeston, Buxton and Matlock, Derby, Swadlincote.

These roles will work closely with our established. and psychologically led, Emotion Regulation Pathway (ERP). In the ERP we work with those commonly diagnosed with 'Borderline Personality Disorder', though we are needs rather than diagnosis driven, supporting those with problems in regulating emotions, impulsivity and interpersonal relationships using evidence-based approaches.

The established ERP works with people with the highest level of need, these current posts will use similar approaches but with people presenting with lower levels of need and without current life-threatening risks.

The role offers opportunities to develop clinical intervention skills using clear protocols and supported by experienced staff.

You will develop clinical, audit and research skills under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

These posts are part of an expansion of service in line with the Community Mental Health Framework, including exciting developments in newly funded lived experience peer support roles.

As such you will be part of a small ERP Short-Term team working within one or two locality areas.

You will support and enhance the psychological care of people with Complex Emotional Needs within the Community and Living Well Team by providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working independently according to a plan agreed by your supervisor and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

Alongside colleagues from Derbyshire Healthcare and other partner organisations, you will be involved in the delivery of our DBT informed Managing Emotions Programme groupwork and DBT and MBT informed Structured Psychological Support individual program.

• Lived experience of mental health services as a recipient of care


• Experience of working in the field of patient, public involvement or improvement.

• Experience of managing and / or leading a team, service or project


• Experience of listening, collecting information and representing a diverse voice


• Experience of group facilitation, supporting groups or workshops


• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health issues and those presenting with Complex Emotional Needs


• The ability to effectively manage, organise and prioritise own workload and meet set deadlines


• Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with colleagues and other service providers


• Able to act as a role model and demonstrate leadership skills


• Able to recognise and constructively challenge poor practice


• Able to support staff to deliver person-centred care that enables recovery


Desirable

• Knowledge of trauma informed practice and how this applies in an adult mental health setting


• Understanding and application of evidence-based practice
