Peer Support Worker

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established, hard working and welcoming team in the East sector of Barnsley. As an Enhanced Mental Health Team (EMHT) we are a group of specially trained people who work together in order to offer support to service users who experience complex mental health difficulties. The successful applicant would enjoy the challenge of working with a varied caseload of service users with the support of colleagues from different professional backgrounds.

We work flexibly with service users as a multidisciplinary team depending on their level of need and coordinate services and care to work towards mental health stability and recovery.

The Enhanced pathway is open 365 days a year and during the week the hours of work are divided into two shifts, between 8.30-19.00, there will also be a requirement to work some weekends 9.00-17.00

To be willing and able to share ones own personal recovery within project work, and to support others with experience/service user led projects and development, bringing the voice of experience in to the planning, design and delivery of projects and developments. This will include a key role in supporting and developing mechanisms for working in partnership with, community organisations and groups.

The PPSW will take a lead role in embedding recovery values within the Trust, alongside other Trust champions and colleagues, and act as an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations. Within a relationship of mutuality, facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.

There is an expectation that the PPSW will be involved in the ongoing development of peer roles within the Trust.
