Full Job Description

The Peer Support Worker role is an integral role in our new female Enhanced Care Female Unit (ECU). It is an exciting and innovative time to join Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as we embark on the opening of Audrey House on our Kingsway Hospital site in Derby. Your role as a PSW, will be an exciting dual role, working within a multi-disciplinary team. The role will involve helping to co-produce policy writing, procedures, and governance for our ECU, coupled with using your voice of lived experience of mental health, to ensure the team are aware of the imperative work you will be undertaking within the unit. Promoting the implementation of cultural and structural change through the provision of peer support as an integral part of acute adult inpatient mental health services. The work will be face to face in a ward-based environment. The PSW role sees the introduction of lived experience into everyday practice. You will offer a combination of group and one to one work and will work within the multi-disciplinary team to support a service user's recovery journey. The post holder will facilitate formal and informal learning, working with staff in clinical practice and supporting the clinical team to develop the best recovery-based practice. All work will be carried out under the supervision of the Ward Manager with support from our Inpatient Peer Support Lead., You will support the provision of high-quality patient services that are clinically safe, evidence based, delivered cost effectively and meet the Trusts' Standards. The post will also involve working closely in collaboration with our Psychological Therapies department at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to be able to work with teams as well as on your own initiative are essential.
