The roles focus on creating trusting relationships whilst supporting carers in their journey of recovery., The principal role of the post holder will be to support carers by developing mutual peer relationships based on their own lived experience.
A key feature of the post will be the person's unique lived experience of caring for someone who has used eating disorder services and their recovery and how the wisdom that comes with this can support others on their their caring journey.
The majority of the post holder's time will be devoted to having direct contact with carers, mainly on a one to one basis but at times in group settings., A key feature of the peer supporter role will be the successful candidate's unique lived experience of caring for someone with an eating disorder.
The post holder will be expected to work with other peer supporters across the Trust, and this will include spending time working into our Recovery Colleges.
Ongoing peer support and individual clinical supervision will be a key aspect of the role to ensure adequate support in what will be a new and challenging position.
We have a very active Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) within the service and the successful candidate would provide a key link between the clinical team and this advisory group whilst recognising these distinct and separate roles.
They will be able to role model compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity.
The post holder will contribute to the further delivery of this service in line with the NICE Guidance, DOH, NHS England and trust policy and process in determining developmental priorities.
