Full Job Description

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and enthusiastic midwife to undertake a new project improving pelvic health during the child bearing continuum.

The purpose of this role is to lead and support the local implementation of a perinatal pelvic health service (PPHS) designed in collaboration with SHIP Local Maternity and Neonatal system (LMNS) and NHS England. A minimum of 0.1wte hours per week will be dedicated to the PPHS project, with a specific focus on the education and training programme. This in line with the NHS Long Term plan commitment to improve access to postnatal physiotherapy services for women. The local ambition which is that ALL women are to have education and advice around pelvic health and access to Physiotherapy services in the postnatal period.

To work with the multidisciplinary team to continually monitor the quality of care that women receive and improve outcomes in line with the PPHS objectives.

To identify areas for improvement and to take a lead role in designing, implementing, and supporting new and existing initiatives e.g. OASI and pelvic health training.

Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding new ways of working to meet the needs of the PPHS.

Develop and lead effective specialist programmes of care for specific patient groups with a multi-disciplinary team. This may involve, but is not limited to, supporting clinics for women who suffered Pelvic floor dysfunction and or at-risk groups who sustained an OASI or perineal trauma, perineal breakdown.

Review and maintain specific pelvic health guidelines to improve prevention, recognition, and treatment pelvic floor dysfunction.

Provide up to date, evidenced based information and education for colleagues and students to enhance knowledge and skills relating to the perineal care of women in labour and postnatally in line with LMNS PPHS.
