Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity to come and join People Service Delivery as a People Consultant - Operational Data Analyst - Payroll, supporting data analysis and collecting data for our Operational Payroll and helping provide insights into our payroll processes utilising a variety of data sets, tools and strategies to identify areas for improvement and automation.

You will work closely with our 3rd party providers, internal payroll experts, wider People end to end lifecycle functions and People Data Hub to provide high quality products, actionable insights and recommendations that can help make data-driven decisions and achieve key operational payroll performance objectives whilst bringing improved user and colleague experiences.

  • working and collaborating with other teams, you'll be equally comfortable working on your own initiative with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve or route issues quickly and effectively;

  • quickly establish relationships with peers and partners alike - be that Operational teams, supplier managers or third party providers;

  • demonstrating a high level of integrity and the desire to exceed customers' expectations!


  • You'll have the gravitas to influence others, in a complex and diverse environment, and the confidence to challenge using data outputs to support change. You'll be adept at delivering in challenging circumstances and meeting tight deadlines. Your analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills will be equally well-honed.,
  • Experience in payroll and wider HR related functions (with a good understanding of the end to end colleague lifecycle).

  • Data Analysis: must have the ability to analyse large datasets and identify patterns and insights that can be used to make business decisions. Should have experience with tools like Excel, including Power Query, and an awareness/understanding of statistical software such as R or Python. Ensures data quality, integrity and consistency. Ensures compliance with relevant internal and external data governance policies.

  • Data Visualisation: must be able to present complex information concisely, presenting data as a story, to engage audiences at all levels, using the most appropriate visual aids and tools. Should have experience with visualisation tools like Tableau, Power BI, Python or R libraries to create charts, graphs, and dashboards that can effectively communicate insights to non-technical audiences.

  • Problem Solving: able to identify and solve complex problems. Must be able to ask the right questions, use critical thinking and creativity to find solutions, and test their hypotheses using data analysis techniques.

  • Communication Skills: must be able to clearly communicate their findings and insights to stakeholders with different backgrounds and levels of technical expertise using good Storytelling skills. Must be able to explain complex concepts and technical terms in a simple and easy-to-understand manner.

  • Business Acumen: must understand the business goals and strategies of the organisation. Able to translate business questions into data queries and use their findings to drive business decisions.

  • Self-motivation and drive required for to really impress our stakeholders.

  • Solid attention to detail with the ability to identify trends and understand what the data is telling us.

  • Ability to undertake complex reconciliation and control activity which may involve large volumes of data

  • Accept change and be willing to adapt to new ways of working.
