Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a People Partner to join us on a 4 to 6-month secondment or fixed-term contract. In this vital role, you will report to the Head of People Partnering in Distribution and will serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and senior teams at both the Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead Distribution Centres in Hertfordshire. The position requires the flexibility to travel between these locations. As a People Partner, you will play a crucial role in delivering a proactive and impactful People Team service, with a focus on continually raising standards and enhancing performance at the Distribution Centres by engaging with and positively influencing the teams. This involves ensuring strict adherence to people policies and procedures, as well as championing a safe and legally compliant operational environment. To support Diversity and Inclusion within the business, making Everyone Welcome and developing team capability. Furthermore, your contributions will be instrumental in driving the overall success of the People Team across our Distribution network.

  • Providing a professional, timely, efficient, accurate and comprehensive People service within the sites.
  • Monitor, support and challenge overall performance by working to Company standards and employment legislation to ensure the site operates safely and legally.
  • Lead, develop and coach the People Team and Payroll Team within your sites
  • Provide coaching, guidance, advice and consistency on all People policies, procedures and employee relations.
  • Work as part of the site senior team to identify opportunities and develop improved ways of working.
  • Coach and support the senior management team to improve the performance of managers.
  • Identify key talent, maintain the performance management and succession planning systems, and support managers in how to develop personal development plans and/or appropriate exit plans.
  • Working with business partners to develop and implement a site People plan linked to the business strategy.
  • Network with the wider distribution People teams, support or lead national People projects and initiatives
  • Keep up to date and provide complex employment law, Company and site specific policy advice and raise awareness and understanding of best practice approach.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious trade union and employee relations.
  • Ensure the Inclusion and Diversity ethos is delivered through effective practices and bringing it to life within the sites you are responsible for..
  • Use People KPI's to identify opportunities and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Support the site\\'s Union annual pay negotiations.

    CIPD or equivalent HR qualification although not critical if the individual has operated in a similar size/scale of business within the People function
  • Demonstrable experience within a unionised environment
  • Experience of managing the entire colleague life cycle
  • Good knowledge of employment law and employee relations
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise your sites\\' People Team varied workload, with accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator with the ability to positively influence and engage with people at all levels
  • Ability to encourage, support and build effective positive relationships with the teams onsite and with wider stakeholders
  • Experience of implementing and driving change and performance eg culture, policies and processes
  • Possess strong leadership and engagement skills / experience.
