JOB TITLE: Performance Coach - Netball

LOCATION: Giggleswick School

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Sport

HOURS OF WORK: 15-17 hours per week.

Fixed Term 7 January - 28 March 2025

CONTRACT: Part time hours. Self-employed or employed considered.

SALARY:£25.00 - £30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

JOB PURPOSE

As part of Giggleswick School's Sport's Department, this role is specifically focussed on providing support to the provision of Netball at Giggleswick School in line with the School's core values of participation, ambition, respect and service. To set an example with regard to top-class coaching and the values in which sport is played in the school.

We are seeking a high calibre individual with significant experience within netball as either a player or coach, to become a leading coach within the performance element of the netball Programme at Giggleswick School. The successful candidate will be passionate about netball and their positive experiences within the game to pupils across the Prep and Senior School.

The position would suit someone already working in a similar role in the sector, or an experienced coach wanting to put his or her experience to use in a educational environment.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching

a) To be an exemplary coach of netball, leading by example and supporting other netball staff in their coaching skills development.

b) To be responsible, alongside the Head of Netball in delivering sessions to pupils in the major games programme.

c) To deliver 15-17 hours of coaching every week - Monday to Friday typically term time only.

d) Develop and implement age-appropriate netball training sessions focusing on skill development, tactical understanding, and physical fitness.

e) Create engaging and progressive practices to enhance the players' technical abilities and game awareness on a weekly basis.

f) Commitment to coaching within the school's co-curricular programme.

g) To work closely with the Director of Sport to ensure that a consistent, coherent strategy for player development exists in the school.

h) To deliver and support staff and players at all levels in Games sessions.

i) To organise and run Giggleswick School's High-Performance Netball sessions every week.

1. Other tasks may develop and been added to this role, following suitable training and subject to time available.

2. Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not have been identified. Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from the Head to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

3. This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the Manager and member of staff and will be reviewed annually.
