Full Job Description

Sefton Safeguarding Children Partnership Business team is a small team but has huge energy and drive to co-ordinate an effective partnership to better safeguard our children and young people. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced individual to the position of Performance and Improvement Officer. This role is pivotal in ensuring that evidence of the impact of partnership safeguarding activity is systematically embedded and shared with a focus on quality and innovation.
Job requirements:
This position requires high level multi-agency quality assurance and performance management, and analytical skills and an ability to work effectively across several agencies and partnerships.
The key objective of the role is to quality assess the safeguarding activities across the multi-agency partnership to ensure consistency across the borough and to report key areas of concern, as well as good practice. The post holder will be responsible for a range of audit activities including Section 11 of the Children Act 2005 as outlined in Working Together 2023 and Section 175 of the Education Act 2002. They will be a technical expert in their field.
In addition, you will support an effective service wide challenge to any safeguarding concerns and response to changing legislation, developing policy, procedures and guidance which reflect best practice nationally and locally.
The post-holder will understand safeguarding children legislation, processes, systems and the role of partner agencies in safeguarding children. This will include you to collate and disseminate learning from quality assurance work, ensuring the effective delivery of multi-agency safeguarding quality and service improvements.The Performance and Improvement Officer is also required to produce and develop performance intelligence/ Reports on activity and impact to inform and evaluate performance for the 3 Key Safeguarding Leads and subgroups of the partnership.
To be a successful candidate, you will need to possess excellent communication, analytical and organisation and report writing skills, be personally resilient and above all, be passionate about demanding the best outcomes for children & young people.
You will need to be educated to degree level and have experience of partnership working.
This position reports to the SSCP Manager.
