Full Job Description

Please note: Internal at risk or redeployee applicants will be seen in the first instance. This is an exciting time to join the Performance and Business Intelligence Team. A performance management framework has been developed for the Council's mission and priorities, and the Vision for Calderdale in 2024. This is well supported utilising dashboard technology to give transparency to officers, members and citizens, on how the Council is performing. This role is vital in driving improvement in line with our aspirations and budget and will help shape the future council. We are looking to appoint an experienced person with a proven track record of performance improvement, and a good understanding of data extraction, analysis, presentation, visualisation and publication. Any successful candidate will be given full support to integrate into the team and organisation, by friendly and knowledgeable colleagues. The main duties of the role include:

  • Develop and implement standards and systems for recording and improving performance. Ensure our performance reporting is accurate and timely. Ensure exceptional performance is noted and escalated, using an outcome based accountability process; develop narrative that tells the story of how we are performing and what we are doing to improve.
  • Help the organisation understand the cost of performance and particularly improved performance.
  • Conduct high levels of business engagement and build relationships that cross boundaries, increasing transparency about the Council's performance. Offer challenge and support. Drive aspirational target setting within budgetary constraints.
  • Support Directorates such as Children's Services to respond to external inspections, internal self-assessments, and completion of statutory returns.
  • Benchmark and research best practice to help services improve. Participate and contribute to sector led improvement initiatives, particularly those using data intelligence.
