Bede's is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Performing Arts Technician to join our award-winning Performing Arts Faculty.

The nature of the Performing Arts is in total alignment with the aims of the school, in celebrating and developing the traits of the individual, so that they achieve in every facet of their educational experience. Our aim is for each pupil to make an outstanding contribution in all aspects of their life. We will do everything we can to make that happen.

The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, competent and highly skilled Interim Performing Arts Technician. The appointed candidate will be educated to degree level or hold a higher diploma in a Performing Arts subject from a recognised Performing Arts institute. They will have experience of working in a professional, creative, theatrical environment and will be enthusiastic about working with young people.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are able to offer experience in one or more of the following technical theatre areas:

  • lighting design and rigging

  • sound and music design

  • set building

  • setting and properties design

  • stage management


  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly ambitious faculty that prides itself on its high production values. Your work will offer you the chance to work on an exciting range of projects. These range from termly examination performances; to whole school productions and musicals at externally hired theatres; to professional scale events such as the school's annual Cabaret. You will support both internal and external events and embed the faculty's health and safety practices.

    This is a Permanent position, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks per year, working 08:30 - 17:00, Monday - Friday.


  • The nature of the role means that you will be willing to work flexibly outside normal school hours and regular working patterns, including weekends and evenings.


  • The salary will be £27,000 per annum.
