Full Job Description

The University wishes to recruit a Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the performing arts courses and other university events. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting undergraduate, research and IGA activities within our studio theatres and events spaces. This post will play an integral role in the expansion of support for not only student and academic staff, but the wider university community and external clients.

The role holder will also be required to undertake general equipment operation, maintenance and safety checks, equipment inventory checks and updates, as well as providing advice as required. The successful candidate will be naturally inquisitive and will possess a range of relevant skills and experience, which they will be enthusiastic to apply in a variety of different applications. They will have the ability to work with initiative and independently, to set priorities and to work co-operatively within a diverse team.

The ability to adapt your knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subject disciplines we support would be an advantage. Candidates will have experience of working in a technical theatre, especially theatre lighting design, rigging, focusing, and plotting. You will also have experience of working in the live technical operation of theatre/event performances, focusing on lighting operation. Candidates will be educated to educated to HND level in a relevant subject or equivalent practical experience., Disability Confident
