The specialist perinatal trauma and loss service (PETALS, formerly known as Maternal Mental Health Service) are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Duty Mental Health Practitioner (Band 6) to join our compassionate, supportive and innovative team., We are looking to recruit a practitioner from a variety of backgrounds including Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN), Occupational Therapists (OT) and/or Social Work.

PETALS is GM wide service, providing opportunities to work with a diverse group of clients and integrate with key services across Manchester. It is an exciting and rewarding service to be part of. The base will be at Benchill Community Centre Anex.

Within this role of a Mental health practitioner within PETALS, you will be providing an efficiently administered and professionally competent Specialist Perinatal Service for people identified as moderately or severely affected due to their trauma and/or loss during the perinatal period.

Full support and training is available for this specialist role and therefore perinatal experience is not necessarily required. Particularly if you have experience in a previous mental health duty or triage roles., The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the effective provision of psychological therapy and will be part of GMMH's Perinatal Mental and Infant Mental Health Services delivering direct care to an identified caseload. The role of the Mental Health Practitioner is to receive all calls into the service that require clinical input and be able to provide immediate support, expert advice, signposting service users to the most appropriate service, assessment, and brief interventions where appropriate via telephone.
