Full Job Description

The Perinatal Mental Health Service is a growing specialist service for women/birthing people and their families in Sheffield. We are excited to have received investment to expand the service, and are now recruiting more staff to come and join our team.,

  • To work as a Practitioner in the Perinatal Mental Health Service in Sheffield.
  • To triage referrals into the service and work into a duty rota.
  • To undertake the assessment and co-ordinate the treatment plans of clients with, or at high risk of, childbirth related serious and complex mental illness.
  • To provide specialist advice about evidence based treatments for perinatal mental health disorders, both to other professionals and to service users and their families.
  • Joint working with other services and organisations is an essential part of the role, especially with clients with severe and enduring mental health problems, who may need the additional skills of this specialised service during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
  • To support clients with their recovery from or adaptation to their mental health difficulties and ensure timely and safe discharge from the service.

    You will need to be an experienced Mental Health Practitioner (we are inviting applications from a range of professional backgrounds) with a real passion for perinatal mental health. Experience in this field is not essential and full induction is offered, but you will be keen to develop a career in this area. You should have attained a level of experience proportionate to the competencies detailed in the job description, possess the skills as detailed in the person specification and be able to work autonomously and with partner agencies. We are a trauma informed service that seeks to understand presenting difficulties in the context of people's whole lives and work with that to promote understanding. You will be a compassionate practitioner who wants to make a difference to families.
