Full Job Description

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring, flexible and well-qualified Peripatetic Teacher as soon as possible to teach individuals and small groups of students across a range of abilities. This role is specific to a teacher of drum kit to join our peripatetic team of music teachers, working in an outstanding music department. Hours are dependent upon student demand.

We would expect the successful applicant to contribute to the life of the Academy, through the delivery of concerts and extra-curricular activities.

  • Key responsibilities, as outlined in the job description, include;
  • To teach drumming as requested in both group and individual settings.

  • To support/direct ensembles as directed by the Director of Creative Arts.

  • To teach students to gain musical knowledge and skills through learning in lessons and through the experience of group music making.

  • To foster the self-discipline and social skills necessary for music making.

  • To enrich the education of each student through the provision of appropriate musical experiences and to provide skills that will serve the student for future music making, be it for leisure or professional purposes.

  • To inspire a lifelong love and enjoyment of music.


  • This is a paid on claim role offering £29.40 per hour + annual leave allowance.

    Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff. Currently, 14 of our academies are considered to be "Outstanding" which is nearly 50% of those which have been inspected whilst part of the Trust. The Trust is establishing four 'clusters' of academies: North Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region's biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.
