The Service:

The Supporting Your Future team works with Children Seeking Asylum and Care Experienced young people aged 16-25 to support them through to independence or reunification to their families. This is an exciting and privileged opportunity to support children and young people in their journey to independence and help them to build a positive future for themselves.

Your New Role:

You will be responsible for supporting young people aged 16 to 25 to develop the independent living skills and emotional resilience necessary for a successful transition to adulthood. You will work alongside the young person's allocated social workers until they turn 18, then support them to access and maintain Employment, Education or Training and help them with any benefit claims. You will provide practical and emotional support to enable them to move into and maintain a tenancy. You will support young people to develop and strengthen all the skills necessary for successful independent living and help them to achieve their life goals.

You are passionate about working with young people and aspirational for them. You are approachable, supportive, flexible and responsive, and able to sustain positive and effective relationships with young people, their families and professionals. You can challenge others appropriately, work effectively alone or in a team, and are an excellent communicator. You enjoy a busy atmosphere, and have skills in tact, diplomacy and empathy. You can write clear and concise reports and assessments. You are motivated to achieve good outcomes for young people, and are curious. You understand the importance of confidentiality and are computer literate. You are able to travel to meet clients across the city or beyond. You have a driving licence and can take young people to appointments and visit clients outside the city; a car will be provided if needed. You have a degree (desirable but not essential), or other post-18 training or development.
