Emotional Wellbeing Co-ordinator role - Care Leavers - Part time 18.5 hours until April 2026
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a service for and with care experienced young people.
We have been successful in gaining grant funding to support care experienced young people's wellbeing focussing specifically on emotional wellbeing and provision of practical support to meet both the basic needs and emotional wellbeing needs. The approach we are adopting is early intervention to support up to 120 care experienced young people (17-26 years old) transition into adulthood and into independent living in a way that acknowledges their trauma brain and attempts to provide techniques for them to mitigate the impact.
The project is co-produced with a group of care experienced young people. (our voice and influence team)
We are currently working with external providers to commission a range of trauma informed mentoring, behavioural technique tools and counselling aiming to improve care leavers emotional wellbeing. Mentoring and individual support that focusses on the development of behavioural techniques that reduce the impact of trauma on day-to-day life will increase the likelihood for success for a young person to maintain a place in education, employment or training.
As the coordinator, you will need to have significant experience of working with care experienced young people, be an excellent communicator using different methods of engagement, have a working knowledge of co-production, have understanding, empathy and patience; with expertise supporting and promoting social activity, relationship building and community engagement.
You will carry a caseload working directly with all the young people and have subject matter expertise on emotional wellbeing. You will actively support young people to access the project, acting as a point of referral, supporting young people to feel able to engage, matching support that fits with young people's identified needs. You will work alongside the Voice and Influence Workers including coordination and evaluation of the project, linking in with other professionals within the service and develop lessons learnt and good practice guidance.
You will need to be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of this project and be able to report on a monthly basis in relation to progress on targets achieved ensuring that support is rapidly provided, tailored to individual needs and that young people gain help to overcome barriers to education and/or employment interviews.
