Full Job Description

To support a 14-year-old male on a 1:1 to help him to work towards achieving the following goals: to help build upon his relationship/social skills; to have opportunities outside of his family/provisions to build independence and engagement with activities of interest and enjoyment in the community, that will also help top up his 'feel good factor'. He is someone who prefers to be outdoors. His neuro diverse difficulties present him with many personal challenges, and these are becoming more prominent the older he gets and the greater the impact upon his self- esteem and sense of self-worth. His difficulties are, to the unknowing eye, 'unseen', except for his high energy levels, insatiability and limited focus. To be able to foster a relationship with him, he needs to feel understood, liked and accepted, and there needs to be a commitment from anyone working alongside him to learn and appreciate his unique needs. This has proven to be rewarding, and he can be great company when feeling 'in the right place. He can physically excel at most activities he chooses to try - and he does enjoy extreme sports! He also has what we refer to as his 'superpowers', personal skills that are quite amazing. Main Duties: To assist and support with accessing activities of interest in the community. He enjoys fishing, off road biking, paddle boarding, surfing, scooting, motor cross, go karting. Indoor activities he enjoys gaming, his ipad, a game of Pool/snooker. . To help build social skills and possible opportunities to make safe and appropriate friendships . To help build self -esteem and self- worth through the building of a relationship and engagement in activities. . To help build ability to trust in others where appropriate and safe . To assist him to explore activities that can help him to emotionally self- regulate . To assist him to better understand risks and how to keep himself safe and how to seek help as needed.

  • Must like being outdoors - as most activities of choice are outside based.

  • who can be fun yet calm, and who can also provide the clear boundaries he needs to manage his emotions/behaviours that can be challenging at times and safety.

    Please note, Compass Disability Services (Compass Independent Living Team) is a support, advisory and payroll service. We support people with a disability or long-term health condition to live independently and retain control of their lives within the community. We are not the person that you will work for. You will work for the individual or family that we are supporting.

    Hours: 6 hours per week term time, 10 hours per week during school holidays. Weekdays Tuesday and Friday after 4pm - hours to be flexible dependent upon planned activities for that week. Possible weekends. Pay: £12.50 per hour Job Type: Part time
