Full Job Description

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) is the organisation which manages Leighton Hospital, Crewe and Victoria Infirmary,Northwich. The Division of Women's and Children's covers a range of specialities including Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Maternity services, Acute Paediatrics,Community Paediatrics and Paediatric Audiology. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible individual to undertake the role of PA in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The post is offered on a full time basis working 37.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday. The PA will offer clerical and secretarial support to the Consultant Team/Specialist Nurse Team as well as other medical staff. This will be a busy and demanding role so only those with previous secretarial experience will be shortlisted - medical secretarial experience would beadvantageous. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Efficient secretarial support to the Consultant Team/Specialist Nurse Team, including diary management.
  • Dealing with all telephone enquiries.
  • Audio-typing from dictation, including the updating of patient's RTT pathways.
  • Inputting/maintaining/updating data to the hospital databases/systems.
  • Communicating with the patients/the general public/Doctors/Nurses/Other professions allied to healthcare., o Efficient secretarial support to the Consultant Team/Specialist Nurse Team.o Dealing with all telephone enquiries.o Audio-typing from dictation, including the updating of patient's RTT pathwayso Inputting/maintaining/updating data to the hospital databases/systems.o Communicating with the patients/the general public/Doctors/Nurses/Other professions allied to healthcare.o General administration duties (e.g. filing, copying)o Regular validation of open RTT pathways.o Line management of an Assistant Personal Assistant (APAs)

    The successful candidate will possess RSA III or equivalent and have proven secretarial and good time management skills., You will be expected to demonstrate provision of a high quality secretarial service, excellent time management and organisational skills, and take responsibility for your team's performance.
  • You should have proven leadership qualities and be able to demonstrate integrity and the ability to manage a team and take responsibility for supporting the Trust's local and national targets., Applicants should be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate working on their own initiative, but also as part of a team. You will need to have a formal typing qualification, and you will need excellent communication skills. You will be able to act as a role model to others.
