Full Job Description

A female Personal Assistant is required to support an individual whose diagnosis is MS, allodynia, sleep apnoea, significant neuropathic pain and spasms. Role Requirements You will be required to:

  • prepare meals and drinks
  • assist with dressing and undressing including some personal care and hair washing
  • prepare medication and maintain medication levels
  • complete general household duties such as cleaning, washing up, and making a note of shopping needed
  • maintain and clean medical equipment
  • maintain their calendar including providing reminders for appointments, catheter changes, etc.
  • walk the dog
  • provide support with trips out for shopping, appointments, and social occasions
  • assist with any additional requests as needed
  • A driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

    The following care experience is also required:
  • an awareness of following prescribed medication protocols
  • dressing and/or toileting
  • lived experience
  • older people, and
  • personal care (such as washing, physical disability)

    The role will involve an element of manual handling such as lifting a wheelchair in and out of the car, carrying shopping and boxes of catheter bags. The individual likes going to the garden centre, having fish and chips from the chip shop occasionally, and really enjoys her garden. There is a small dog that lives in the property so you will need to be comfortable around him. The role is for 10 hours per week including evening and weekends however you will also need to provide holiday and sickness cover. Benefits include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave.
