Role: Personal Assistant to Head of Junior School Lines of Reporting: Relevant member(s) of Senior Leadership Team Hours: 40 hours per week with 1hr for lunch, between the hours 8:00am to 6:00pm although flexibility in working arrangements will be required. The role is term-time only plus 2 weeks. The responsibilities of this post are likely to include, but are not restricted to:

  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
  • Diary Management: Organise and maintain the Headteacher's calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, and events.
  • Correspondence Management: Handle all incoming and outgoing communication for the Headteacher.
  • Meeting Preparation: Prepare and circulate meeting agendas, take minutes during senior leadership team (SLT) meetings.
  • Confidential Support: Manage and handle sensitive and confidential information related to staff, students, and school matters, exercising discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Event Organisation: Coordinate and organise school events on behalf of the Headteacher, including staff meetings, training sessions, parent-teacher meetings, and special school events.
  • Liaison: Act as the first point of contact between the Headteacher and staff, parents, external stakeholders, and the wider community.
  • Document Preparation: Draft letters, reports, presentations, and other documents as required by the Headteacher.
  • Project Support: Provide administrative assistance for special projects, school initiatives, or programmes led by the Headteacher.

  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in document preparation and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional and calm under pressure, with the ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential
  • Proven experience in a PA or administrative support role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Experience in managing confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general office technology.
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of school management systems and office software.
